Yesterday we celebrated my little brother’s birthday. He had been looking forward to it for weeks (as probably all children do) and counting down how many nights there were left until his big day. And it was a big day, filled with lots of cake and waffles, even more presents and friends and family celebrating. I don’t envy my parents who went on a trip with him and seven other little boys, while I stayed at home and prepared the food for the evening. On days like this I’m always a little sad, that I only get to be home at the weekends, but I guess that’s better than the other way around. Did you have a good weekend as well?
PS: I must admit that this isn’t my own recipe, it’s only a simple pound cake, something like that. I wish I was able to bake things like that from scratch, but I’m working on it. And isn’t it funny how just the shape and a little bit of chocolate fondant can turn a boring pound cake into a fun ‘donut cake’? You don’t even need fancy recipes for that.
I thought that was a donut as well! So fun!
Oh that’s such a cute concept! It looks just like a doughnut too, I was confused for a minute. I’ve always wanted to work with fondant but it’s intimidating. Looks like you did a great job.
That is the cutest (and yummiest) cake ever, Hanna. :) Looks great!
And happy birthday to your little brother! My “little” brother turns 18 this week, scary thought!
Such a cute cake! Hope you’re having a lovely week x

Happy Birthday to your little brother, Hanna! A donut was the first thing I thought of when I saw this cake! Love it!
